This was one of those summertime ski missions that was doomed from the start by the lack of an overnight freeze. My friends and I decided to pull the plug and watched a slow and beautiful sunrise from the moraine. We cooked an elaborate breakfast when we got back to our trucks and I promised the team I would paint that sunrise.
